Laws of Motion

Isaac Newton's three basic laws of motion are presented here along with the equations that derive from them.

  • Conservation of Momentum :
An object in motions tends to remain in motion. An object at rest tends to remain at rest. An external force is required to change the momentum.

  • Relationship of Force, Mass and Acceleration : F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors, and the force vector operates in the same direction as the acceleration.

  • Action / Reaction : For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
