1863: Henry Ford was born in Dearborn, MI. 1888: Vladimir Zworykin, inventor of the iconoscope and known as "the father of television," was born. 1898: Scientific American carried the first magazine automobile advertisement, for the Winton Auto Car Company. 1898: Corn Flakes were invented by William Kellogg. 1909: The Wright Brothers deliver their first military plane, the Military Flyer, to the army. 1928: George Eastman showed the first color motion pictures. 1946: The German V-2 reached an altitude of 100 miles for the first time. 1956: The phrase “In God We Trust” was adopted as the U.S. national motto. 1971: Apollo 15, the fourth manned lunar mission, landed on the moon. 1998: A group of 13 Ohio machinists stepped forward to claim the $295.7 million Powerball jackpot.
