ISO Stands for Nothing - Just Ask Them

According to ISO Secretary-General Larry Eicher, the letters "ISO" (i.e., from ISO9000) do not stand for anything. They do not derive from "International Standards Organization" or any other such group. Rather, they derive from the Greek prefix "iso," meaning "equal."
